I used this app last in 2012 on my trip to Maui. I enjoyed using it back than, and I dont remember having all the issues that everyone else reports using.
For me I didnt use 3G all the time. It would have been extremely expensive to have my phone on the network downloading data all the time. So I relied on the GPS data to record our movements for a lot of it. I found that my waypoints recorded very worked well for where we went and travelled.
For the complaints about battery life, well you are running a GPS. Every app warns about continued us of a gps will drain your battery. That should be no surprise that this one will do it too. I would turn the app off when I didnt want to kill my battery. When driving I left it plugged into the charger. When hiking I would turn it on when I wanted to record a waypoint of where we were or if I wanted to record the complete hike. To complain about the app in that regards IMHO is unfair. If you want longer battery life, buy something dedicated from garmin. But for the IPhone it works as all apps would.
I like it and plan on using it for my next trip
